Dr. Garza
Founder
Dr. Garza is a native El Pasoan and Eastwood High School alum. He attended Texas A&M University where he received a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science and another in Veterinary Science. Dr. Garza received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1982. After practicing for a year in Hobbs, New Mexico, he came back home and worked for three years as an associate veterinarian in a mixed practice here in El Paso. In 1986, he founded East El Paso Animal Hospital, creating a one-stop-shop for client convenience.
Dr. Garza’s efforts to grow, learn, and serve the animal community have continued with his involvement and service in both local and statewide professional groups. He has served on the Board of Directors at the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, as President of the El Paso Veterinary Medical Association, President of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, and served on numerous Committees and Task Forces at the local, state, and national levels.
In his spare time, he enjoys working on his fruit trees, fishing, and spending time with this family.

Dr. Lauren Boyer
Veterinarian
Dr. Lauren Boyer started her veterinary career working here for Dr. Garza at East El Paso Animal Hospital right after graduating from the The University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. She grew up in Pennsylvania, knowing she wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. She spent her younger years working with her hometown veterinarian, Dr. Kathy Chronister, who encouraged her and gave her many opportunities and experiences working in a veterinary hospital.
Dr. Boyer is passionate about organized veterinary medicine, and when she is not working, she is actively involved in the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, where she currently serves on the Board of Directors for West Texas. She is also on the Executive committee for the El Paso Veterinary Medical Association. She has recently started a DVM mother’s group in El Paso. Dr. Boyer’s medical interests include internal medicine, ultrasound, and preventative medicine.
Dr. Boyer lives here with her husband; who is a professor at UTEP, her son, Luke, and their cat, Nermal. She loves to travel to new places, especially beaches, and go hiking. She loves the cohesiveness of the El Paso Veterinary Community, where everyone works together to help give pets the best medical care possible.

Dr. Carlos Dominguez
Veterinarian
An El Paso native, Dr. Dominguez graduated from Bel Air high school and went on to complete both his undergraduate studies and veterinary schooling at Texas A& M. He interned at Sun City Veterinary Surgery Center with Dr Silverman and The Animal Neurology & Imaging Center with Dr Schatzberg. Dr. Dominguez continues learning and training by attending various continuing education opportunities for surgery and neurology and bringing his expertise to students’ learning within our clinic.
Dr. Dominguez comes from a medical family of sorts; his father is a doctor, and his mother and sister are nurses. Growing up talking about medicine, Dr. Dominguez wanted to continue the tradition but decided to switch to caring for animals as he considers them extremely important for humans in many ways.
Some of Dr. Dominguez’s favorite pastimes include playing soccer and the trumpet. But he admits they have received less attention after starting his life as a veterinarian. However, he still tries to stay fit by going to the gym and the occasional pickup game. Dr. Dominguez is married to his beautiful wife, Maria. Together, they have a Mia, a boxer mix, and Benny, a domestic short hair.

Dr. Lauren Waltzer
Veterinarian
Dr. Lauren Waltzer was born and raised here in El Paso. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from UTEP, she spent 3 semesters teaching high school sciences at Loretto Academy. In 2018, she graduated summa cum laude from Texas A& M College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Waltzer went on to complete the year long Dairy Herd Internship at Michigan State University specializing in dairy cow reproduction, medicine, and surgery. Although she loves farm animal medicine, she missed her family, the Sun City, and good Mexican food, so she decided to return to El Paso after her internship. She joined the East El Paso Animal Hospital team in October of 2019 and has loved getting to work with our clients and their pets! The best part of her day is helping people give their pets happier and healthier lives.
When not at work, Dr. Waltzer loves traveling, exploring historical places, watching movies, and hiking with her lab-mix, Wendy.
